Studio artists have 24/7 access to their spaces. Tours are by appointment. Class times vary by workshop, and darkroom sessions are booked by the hour through our online booking system.

Can I teach a class at ArtLab?

Yes. We welcome proposals from local artists and instructors. Visit our Teach a Class page to see the classroom setup and submit a proposal. All types of classes are welcome.

Do I need prior experience?

It depends on the class. Each workshop listing should note whether it’s beginner-friendly or geared toward a certain skill level. If you’re unsure, check the class description or contact us before signing up.

How do I hear about new classes?

Sign up for our email list on the Classes page. We send a note when new workshops go up, usually a couple emails a month. You can also follow us on Instagram.

Studios

Are studios private or shared?

Most of our units are semi-private, with shared walls and open tops in a larger open floor plan. We also have a limited number of fully private, walled-off rooms. Contact us or take a tour to see what’s available.

Can I customize my studio?

Yes. Our semi-private units are built to be adapted to your work. Whether you need 240v power, better lighting, custom walls, or dedicated storage, we’ll work with you to set up a space that fits how you actually work.

How do I get a studio?

Contact us to ask about current availability and schedule a tour. We’ll walk you through the options and answer any questions about setup, access, and pricing.

How much does a studio cost?

Studios start at $225 per month. Sizes and rates vary by unit. Contact us for current options or to schedule a tour and talk through what fits your budget.

What kinds of work can I do in a studio?

Painting, pottery, woodworking, sewing, photography, and plenty more. Our studios support a wide range of media. If your work involves loud tools, strong odors, or special power requirements, mention that when you inquire so we can make sure the space is a good fit.

What's included with a studio?

Studio artists get 24/7 access to their space, regular artist gatherings, darkroom access at DarkLab, and pottery kiln firings shared with our neighbors at Bozeman Makerspace. See Studio Community for the full list of perks.

Other

Can anyone use the darkroom?

Yes. DarkLab is open to the community, not just studio artists. Studio artists get darkroom access included with their space. Everyone else can book by the hour at $15/hr. Learn more on our Darkroom page.

How do I book the darkroom?

Book a session online at book.bozemanartlab.com. Sessions are $15/hr and include chemistry for black and white and C-41 color development. Bring your own film and paper.

I'm new to film. Can I still use the darkroom?

Yes. DarkLab is a DIY community darkroom, so you should be comfortable working on your own or learning as you go. If you’d like a walkthrough before your first session, contact us and we’ll help you get started.
